Well, I've basically been under the weather since May 15. Had a cold which turned into bronchitis, took antibiotics, and now have something else which is flu-like in symptoms. Two nights ago Emma actually slept through from 11 pm to 6 am, but did I get to take advantage of it? Of course not! It was one of my worst nights ever -- alternating between chills and fever, unable to get comfortable in bed. I didn't sleep much at all...not solidly, anyway. I went to work yesterday just to drop Emma off at daycare and to take care of a couple of things, then came home to sleep, hoping some rest might knock this thing out, then got a call from daycare saying Em was coughing (which would make her cry) and that she wasn't eating very well. I went to get her at 1:00. Fortunately for me, I laid her down for a nap when we got home and she slept for 3 1/2 hours, which gave me a chance to sleep as well.
Wish I could say I feel a whole lot better today, but my improvement is only minimal.
I don't know why, but Emma doesn't seem to be doing so well with cereal anymore. And she hasn't seemed to acquire a taste for peaches. I attempted green beans with her this afternoon, but before even getting any in her mouth, I knocked the dish off her high chair and send green beans flying -- on the wall and on the mat beneath her chair (thank goodness for that!!! I'd hate to think of how challenging they would be to get out of the carpet! Not something I need right now, that's for sure.) We'll try the green beans again tonight at supper.
Em had pink eye last week. She woke up Monday morning with a crusty eye, so we got her into the doctor who gave a prescription for drops. We only had to do the drops twice a day for 3 days, and they cleared up the conjunctivitis very quickly. Then we had to go back on Wednesday for Emma's 6 month check-up and shots. She is now 16 lbs, 10 oz., is 26 1/4 inches long, and her head circumference is 16 1/2 inches. Everything appears to be healthy and she'd developmentally right on track.
Oh, and a tooth is on the way. Her bottom left tooth has broken through the surface, and we can tell she's playing with it a lot. Looks like she's always sucking on her bottom lip. We've had the baby Orajel handy, but I need to get some of those teething rings that go in the refrigerator.
Meant to upload some photos earlier today while I was at the church, but Em was getting antsy in her stroller...having to sit there and just watch Mommy. So, I'll have to add some new ones on Monday. And there are some precious ones! Keep checking back. You'll enjoy them.
